Five Essential Truths Concerning Your Sin and the Saviour
By admin • Jul 14th, 2009 • Category: Posts to PonderDo you want the joy of a personal relationship with God? Do you want to be confident that one day He will welcome you into Heaven? Here are five essential truths you need to know and act upon.
Our Dilemma:
We are by nature sinners who stand guilty and condemned before our Creator and Judge. In our thoughts and actions, we have disobeyed His perfect standards. We are sinners.
- “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” – Romans 3:23
- “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” – Isaiah 53:6
Our Inability:
We are helpless to save ourselves. Forgiveness is a gift to be received, not a reward that can be earned. We need a Saviour.
- “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9
- “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 6:23
Our Saviour:
Because of His love for us, God provided salvation through His Son, Jesus. He became a member of the human family, lived sinlessly, and died on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus is the Saviour.
- “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
– Romans 5:8
- “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
Our Response:
Salvation is an individual matter and requires a personal response on the part of anyone that wants to be saved. All who acknowledge their sin and place their trust in Christ are adopted as God’s children.
- “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:9 & 13
- “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” – Galatians 3:26
- “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” – John 1:12-13
Our Confidence:
Our confidence in the security of God’s plan of salvation for man rests in our ability to trust the promises of God contained in Scriptures. God promises to keep you safe and secure. Trust in Him to keep His promise!
- “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” – I John 5:13
- “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.” – John 10:28-29
- “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever. Amen.” – Jude 1:24-25
